Days 207-208, Yosemite NP  day 5&6. (Zoe) 2

Day 5 for me was a rest day: after a few decent hiking and riding days I figured my body deserved it. I rode out with Tanguy for abit on his way to Sacramento in search of a decent supermarket (which I didn’t find), then went back to camp, got out my kindle and settled into the hammock. From here I could also watch the chaos erupt as all the city people escaped work for a weekend of camping, and our campground went from relatively quiet to completely full. (Friday evening). Including Uni students showing up at 22:40 to set up tents next to my spot, wasn’t a fan of that!

From 2 cars, to about 11 in our little loop!

Day 6 I got up pretty early, made breakfast and headed up the 120 east towards Tioga pass, the mountain through road in the park. This got really pretty near the top. Alpine lakes, steep granite mountains and valleys. I parked in Tulomne Meadows and hiked a short way to some bubbling springs, across the bridges and to the start of a hike up to Elizabeth Lake. I headed up there which took just over an hour, came across a beautiful lake dotted with small snow drifts, and read my kindle/ate a sandwich in the sun. It was a quiet hike I only saw a handful of other people which was nice.

Tioga Lake

Soda springs

Walked back down the hill to eventually get back to my bike (a long way from the trailhead!) legs now sore, I headed back down the pass, and all the way to Yosemite Village, about 1 1/2hrs away. Here I had wifi so could send a few messages to T, get myself some dinner and headed back to camp in the dark.

My oh my, Zoe alone in the wild !!! You’re really a brave young woman ! Your pictures are super nice. Blue skies all over the place.
And what is “Lazy Lizard” doing alone on his own ? Repairing his bike maybe ? How is your back T?

Quite active on an off-day Zoë!
The scenery is certainly breathtaking and the photographs are as well.
But hiking on your very own, and few other people on the track…?
As long as you like it, hike it!
