Since my bike is having tantrums I am having to take side trips to sort it out. This time the steering was acting up and I needed a new bearing to fix that little issue. Lucky for me, I have a contact in Rancho Cordova near Sacramento, about 200 kms away from Yosemite that helped me out. Glenn, the manager at Clearwater Lights (the company who produces those big yellow auxiliary lights I have) ordered the parts for me to be there when I arrived.
I left Zoe in Yosemite on Friday morning and took off along the scenic and windy road down into the valley towards Sacramento. For most of the way the road was fun and quiet until the outskirts of town. I arrived at Clearwater just after lunch and Glenn had me park right in their workshop where he had made some space for me. I got to work pretty much right away and in the meantime he booked a hotel for me. Now that’s customer service!
But 18:00 they were closing up shop and since I wasn’t quite done yet I left my bike at the shop and they dropped me off at the hotel.
The next morning I got picked up at 9:15 and I had my issue fixed and out of the shop by 11:00. Along the way they also replaced and upgraded part of the lights system free of charge.
It also happened that Clearwater was having their annual “customer appreciation BBQ” that day and I spent the day mingling with the Clearwater staff and riders that showed up for the occasion. Along the way I won a 50% off voucher on my next Clearwater purchase which will most likely go into a set of aux lights for Zoes bike.
I spent another night in Sacramento not wanting to drive the 200kms back to Yosemite in the dark (deer and all that) and had a reasonably early night with plans to be on the road just after 6 the following morning.
The Clearwater gang was as awesome as their products and it was really ice meeting them all.

Well done dear T. Not so lazy after all huh ? It’s a good thing done as you still have a lot of kms to do. At least you can drive on without worries…. let’s hope.
It’s very nice indeed of the Manager of Clairwater Lights company to help you out and take care of you like he did. ***** Top Class !
There is a nice display of fantastic motorbikes on the parking !
Have a safe drive back to Zoe T. It’s always better to drive together isn’t it ?
See you back in Yosemite.
So the steering is fixed, good.
There seem to be a lot of nice and helpful people in biker-land, and a lots of bikers showing up for a free BBQ.
Is it the climate (not everywhere), the roads (maybe), the enormous number of parks (certainly) or/and the urge for freedom that explains these numbers?
Back to Yosemite then!
Baci on Nov 2 – I catched up!
