Day 202, Los Gatos CA – Yosemite NP, 350kms Oct 22nd. 2

Time to move on even though it’s so nice out here we could spent a bit more time in this lovely house! We had breakfast with Brent and packed up. We didn’t make it out of the house before 11 so that was quite a late start with a long way to go.
Our journey to Yosemite NP wasn’t a very exciting one in the sense that our route would cross the California Central Valley which is all agricultural land, call it the West Coasts veggie garden & orchard. The roads are straight, quite busy and unscenic.

Ever since San Francisco my bike has been feeling weird, the front feels really loose. I originally assumed it had to do with the new front tire but today I noticed the whole handle-bar assembly is wobbling! We stopped briefly to have a closer look and yeah, indeed there is a problem… Head stock bearing kaput! Anyway, we carry on a little further and stop for lunch at a very Mexican eatery (it’s pretty much Mexico here) and I started doing research on fixing my issue. After lunch we carry on along the same boring road picking up some delicious strawberries, avocados and persimmon at a street side stall along the way. We eventually get to more interesting vistas late afternoon as we finally arrive at the foot of the Sierras. We made it to the park entrance just after 5 and find out that the Yosemite Valley campgrounds are all full and the next option which “MIGHT” have some open spots is another 45′ away.

When we get there we find a spot and managed to get our tent pitched just as it gets dark. Sunset is now just after 18:00!

Dinner was leftovers from Mexican lunch while looking at the National Park map followed by an early bed time.

Unscenic road made a bit more interesting by a wobbling handle bar, sums up the day more or less.
Oh, plus a really Mexican feeling restaurant in a really Mexican feeling area, but still the US.
But you made it to Yosemite, objective of the day.
Happy to read your progress, less so for the new technical issue, will be fixed I’m sure.
We took down the big tree at the parking area, it took down my back a bit as well.
Tomorrow off to the MDI regd place in Lux, just so you get some return updates from MON!
    Baci on a Saturday
