The weather finally seemed favourable to back track to the north a little to see some more of the Oregon coast before we get stuck into California for the final chapter of this trip.
The idea was to head north along the 101 pacific highway and stop at the first descent cafe / restaurant along the scenic road and have brunch. Seemed like a reasonable idea since this is after all a tourist road and one of west coast most famous roads. Well… by the time we found a place that was open it was well into lunch time and… We were hungry so not so picky anymore!
Along the way we encountered a rain shower but the rest of the way was relatively sunny and pleasant. We managed to get as far north at Port Orford stopping at a bunch of beaches and scenic lookouts on the way up and again on the way down.
The road was indeed scenic but not as quaint as we would have liked with lots of trucks and fast moving traffic…
Plenty more coast road south of us with vistas and California sunshine!

Not ready to go down yet ?
You really do not want the trip to end hé? Therefore backtracking is a good solution and when the road is nice, the beaches are scenic and the weather is not all that bad, why not?
