As plans usually go, they change along the way, and our trip to Vancouver island took a slight detour via the Sunshine Coast. Zoes cousin Bob and his friend suggested we take the scenic way along the Sunshine Coast to head to Vancouver. Our friend Riel also happened to be there at the moment so we adjusted our route and took the ferry to Langdale. The Sunshine Coast even though on the mainland is only accessible by boat. The road follows the shoreline from a distance and only a few rocky bays are visible from the highway. Never the less it’s an nice road surrounded by lush vegetation and cute cottages.
The ferry took about 40 minutes which was followed by a short ride to Coho Marina where Riel was staying with his German friend Hubert. We had lunch in Gibsons followed by a quick shop for some goodies to bring to our hosts and we made the hour or so ride to Coho Marina stopping for a brief walk through the rain forest along the way.
Hubert owns a small sailboat he keeps in the local marina while he lives in an interesting cabin nearby. Between the 2 of them they are filled with a vast amount of knowledge and the evening was interesting as ever, discussing various topics over some red wine, cheese and crackers followed by a great meal prepared by Hubert who is a chef so we were treated real well! We spent the night on the floor of Hubert’s cabin while Hubert spent the night on his boat… it was a bit of a slumber party!
The following morning was equally interesting with an awesome breakfast courtesy of Hubert and more discussions. We eventually left to catch 2 more ferries at 14:00. The first ferry ride took us further up the Sunshine Coast and the following longer trip was across to Vancouver Island. We arrived in Comox early evening, just in time to set up camp before nightfall. The deer were already plentiful on the side of the road and anymore riding at this time of the night didn’t seem very safe.

Happy to see you here again T !
It’s always nice to meet people like Riel that had an interesting life and experiences like you do and exchange stories endlessly over a nice dinner and good wine prepared by a chef all this during your trip through Vancouver …. Nice !
No word about the weather ….I guess it wasn’t that important as you were on the ferry for some time and in good company for the rest of the day and night 😉
Enjoy the good company, the good meal and the wine ! The good things of life.

Today you traveled a road that can only be accessed by boat, is that right?
You’re really meeting a lot of people during this trip, who will some day come and visit you, when you settle down.
I heard of a rear axle problem on Bumble Bee, but that will still have to come.
Here it’s Saturday 16th, no ferry to take, no friends to visit.
Enjoy what you do and do it as long as it enjoys you!
