Day 158, Vancouver BC 3

We woke up to rain, so since we have a nice cozy bed, we rolled over and went back to sleep! We did that a few times until hunger struck. As we got up we found out the whole house was out of power… power was eventually restored, we had breakfast and… the rain lifted.

The grey damp foggy view as we woke up

So early afternoon we left the 7 bedroom mansion and headed into town. Not planning on fighting traffic too much we parked in Stanley Park, just over the Lions Gate bridge and left the machines there for the day. We walked around the park for a while, along the cliffs and then down by the waterfront building up a hunger. We had lunch at the prospect point cafe then walked into downtown.

Things starting to clear up and the bay came into view

One of the many huge trees found in Stanley Park

It was a very strange concept to be surrounded by glass skyscrapers, dense traffic, busy people going about their hectic lives, homeless people sleeping on the pavement… All these things we had left behind for months spent in sparsely populated areas. Our downtown visit waS short but interesting, Vancouver is no doubt a wealthy area, high end cars, well to do citizens, busy bars and restaurants…

All that shine isn’t gold, the sad reality of city life

the Gastown District was the most interesting area, from its architecture and lay out, it is no doubt the upmarket hang out hub for the well to do people.

The very unique Gastown steamclock chiming on the hour

Just before dark we took a taxi back to Stanley Park and headed home over the bridge. Once at home we caught up with an Aussie couple and an Egyptian gentleman who were also staying at the mansion and along with doing some laundry (there was a machine, might as well use it!) we stayed up late talking…

Aaah the Big city with restaurants and pubs …your stomach thinking about food and beers huh ?….
When I saw the second picture with the mansions and the bay view I had a laugh as on the first picture I thought it were clouds 🙂
Nice place you found to stay for a little while only…. In a haste to go back to nature ?
This steamclock is really awesome and the big trees with little ones growing halfway up are spectacular.
Thank you for the nice pictures and layout… we enjoy both your stories a lot here in MON as dad always says.
See you soon who knows where…. but take care both of you !

Ha, I get to see the gas clock!
Surprises all along the visit in a “town” where people live in groups, already 51% of all do so, and 70% will do in 20 years time.
This will make country houses more affordable!
Impressive tree in the park, but today’s preference goes to the clock!
    Baci many much
