We saw what we came to Page for so we left pretty much first thing in the morning to try and beat the crowds at our first stop of the day, Horseshoe Bend in the Colorado river. We got there around 8:00 and there where already a bunch of people there. In addition the sun was still low and casting a big shadow, so decent photos will not be part of this experience but we had a nice time sitting on the edge of the cliff looking at life below. Once the 1st load of Asian tourist arrived we took off to look for food.
We had a big breakfast at the Marble Canyon Lodge and then went back to bridge to look down at the big river. On the bridge we met a couple of volunteers protecting the local condors who where at the time observing a female on a nest in the cliffs nearby. We spent a good 30 minutes learning about these endangered birds and looking at the nest through the spotting scope. Next up was Glenn Canyon recreational park to look at the rock formations and the beaches on the Colorado
From there we had some 300kms to cover to get to our next destination. We took the scenic route all the way and reached Zion NP late afternoon having gone through a time change going into Utah. Finding a campsite was a bit of a challenge since this weekend is a free day at the national parks and it seems the world and its dog was here!
Zoe managed to find us the last tent spot in the campsite just outside the park. Prices were ridiculous, about twice what we normally pay, but… no other options so we booked 2 nights and set up our camp. The hammock was strung and I spent the afternoon lounging around, catching up on technology based activities since we finally had wifi again and fixing a minor issue on my horse. In the meantime Zoe went off for a short hike in the park and gathering information on the hiking trails.
It turned out to be a fairly late night partly due to the time change but the temperatures were not too cold and things were looking good for a decent night sleep in anticipation to the hikes coming the next day.

Wonderful to see how wind and rain can erode these mountains and create such curious and beautiful art.
Seems full of national Parks in that area, all planned for in your trip I presume 😉
Rocks and rivers, doesn’t it get a bit of same-same after a week?
But then, the rides in between are maybe as important as the destinations.
