Day 14, Roswell NM – White Sands NM, 256kms 2

No rush to get up this morning so the alarm was set for 0700. Pack up was quick and we headed back into Roswell. I had a package waiting for me at the UPS store, new light support brackets from Clearwater lights after one broke last week. They were quick to send one out under warranty.

After a nice breakfast we went on to see the Roswell UFO museum. Small but nice and informative. Big enough for us to kill an hour or so.

I picked up some sealant (left cylinder valve cover has been leaking oil since we left) and went on our merry way west again to the white sands NM. We arrived there around 16:30 and after a quick look around decided to stay and camp right there in the dunes. It did require a mile hike with all the camping gear but seemed worth it.

One of the ranger gave a sunset tour explaining the wonders of these white gypsium dunes.

Having arrived late and having made the late decision to camp there meant we had to find our way to the tent site in the dark… lucky for us there are markers with reflective tape guiding us along and we got there eventually.

The place is spectacular and we spend quite a bit of time messing with our cameras trying to get a good night shot.

Before we knew it, it was 23:00 and time for bed as we wanted to see the sunrise.
